What Are You Tolerating in Your Life?

One of my favourite topics is creating. Likewise, what gives me a rush is when the act of creation dynamically changes something on the inner or outer levels that you have been tolerating. Did you know that a major block to creating is tolerating? What are you enduring that's been slowing you down? All those tolerations, as simple as a button missing off your favorite shirt, to owing library [...]

You Are Not Too Old, And It Is Not Too Late

You are not too old and it is not too late. These timely words from poet Rainer Maria Rilke branded me almost viscerally the first time I met a woman I’ll refer to as Dorothy. It was 1998 in Salt Lake City, where I was a dancer in a showcase performance of sacred dancers from all around the globe. One of the dances that took my breath away [...]

Do You Admire Others More Than Yourself?

Do you have a HERO or HEROINE? Is there someone you admire? What are the qualities in them that you admire or aspire to be like?  Remember the 1980’s movie classic, When Harry Met Sally? Sally faked an orgasm in a restaurant and an older woman watching, said, “I’ll have what she’s having!”  A few years ago I met a delightful person who was “bright and shiny” [...]

Lessons for Living from Art School – Letting Your Creations Die

I went to art school way back in the 1980’s when I was pregnant with my second child. One of the classes I took was “Weaving.” My professor was renowned for her huge colourful weavings that hung in downtown banks and professional buildings. Her woven pieces were exquisite, breath-taking and one of a kind. Most disturbing, once the contract with the building was over, she destroyed her [...]

My “aha!” About the Energetics of Business

I recently asked a superwoman-colleague how she's able to efficiently manage 100's of classes around the world? To be specific, she seems to have a knack to know when this seminar requires some attention...or that one needs a new hosting team, or another's dates need to change. Her super power sense knows when to make a tweak or there . . . and for 100's of classes [...]

Make Your Art

Yes you. Do that thing you enjoy making. Even if _____________ (insert fave excuse here). Because, you never know who, what, where, when and how it will impact someone. And that someone could be YOU! Once upon a time, I had the point of view that I couldn't create because someone else already probably made it.  I was also guilty of waiting to create before it was really great to [...]

Henry Moore Meets Lake Superior

One of the great things about traveling with no precise destination is the surprise of stumbling upon outrageous beauty! We found this space as part of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park at Rossport Provincial Park down the road. The large smoothed rocks emerging from the cool shallows of Lake Superior reminded us of the artist Henry Moore's sculptures.

Nia Ga Kool – The Key to Letting Go

Present time bloodshot eye I’m looking in the mirror where I see my left cornea full of blood - a burst blood vessel, my eye doctor tells me. I didn’t sneeze, I didn’t cough, or do anything out of the ordinary that would have caused it. Shouldn't eye know what caused it? Flashback to another bloodshot eye and the start of Nia ga kool After all, the [...]

Happy Endings And Creating Beyond 3 Stages!

Endings. Many people dislike endings, especially if they've been enjoying a great play, a bottle of wine, the best week of summer camp, a movie or a book that was so engrossing they didn’t want it to end! Other people can’t wait for something to be over, especially if the experience is really bad. Think of a 3 hour movie with sub-titles, a song (99 bottles [...]

Stuck In The Middle With You

Let's talk about your middle . . . er. . . the middle! If the beginning of your project is the inspiration, the middle is the creation. It's a stage where the beginning idea is ignited by the actions that must occur for the creation to come to fruition. Examples might be making a phone call to order supplies, registering for a class, or picking up your pen and [...]
