There’s not a single person on this planet that is exempt from crisis… and when it comes you can feel as though the light has gone out and you’re left stumbling around in the dark, trying to find your ground.
Human Design calls this coming week’s theme, “the darkening of the light.” The I’Ching calls it “brilliance injured” (hexagram 36) as a representation of how it feels when a crisis hits. It’s as though the sun sinks into the earth and all we see is darkness. The light is still there, but it’s obscured from view.
Whether you’ve experienced or witnessed recent global crises such as wars, pandemics or earthquakes… or you’ve experienced a personal crisis such as the loss of a loved one, a job or your home, Crisis can leave you devastated and weakened and/or it can be a catalyst for growth and change.
But sometimes you have to fall apart first.
If you find yourself trying to avoid falling apart, trying to avoid a crisis, do yourself a favour and… let go. Let go of control. Easier said than done, but could it be worth a try?
Crisis is a powerful emotional energy that can wake you up and bring change through a full blown body immersive experience. It’s like getting pummelled in an ocean wave. If you fight it, you prolong the upset and when you surrender to it and relax your body, you can let go and be surprised at what shows up next.
We don’t grow through getting what we want or trying to control how and when it comes… we grow through surrender and what breaks us open. As Leonard Cohen put it so well… There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.
Being human and cracking open, one breath at a time,
