What Are You Waiting For?

When you order take-out, you do this.

When you’re at the bus-stop, you do this.

When you put cookie dough in the oven, you do this.

When you plant seeds, you do this.

When you’re at the grocery store line up, you do this.

It’s called waiting, our theme for this coming week (Dec 3-8).

Seasonally, we’re living with shorter days and longer nights in the Northern hemisphere, anyways. December is darker and hails a time of waiting for the light to reappear.

Contrary to common experience, waiting doesn’t have to produce impatience. Waiting can be an active state of being. Artful waiting demands presence and alertness to patterns, rhythms and timing. The act of waiting consciously gives you breathing room around your next action step, whether it’s a new project, a new love, a new idea or a new job.

What does the power of waiting do for you? It gives you…

  • Time to get emotionally clear before you react, speak or act
  • Space to listen to your inner truth rather than being hijacked by your mind or outer voices telling you what you should or shouldn’t do
  • Time to sort out what your mind says from what your heart knows
  • Waiting gives you… YOU! More access to the relaxed, true you.
  • More authenticity. Less auto-pilot reactivity.

What if, just for this coming week… or maybe the rest of your life… you practise waiting with awareness… before speaking or taking action? The kind of waiting we’ve been describing here isn’t about being bored, spinning your wheels or procrastinating.

The power of waiting is about being keen to the patterns and flow of life that your body responds to or that your intuition shows you. It’s that strength you build when you’ve waited and you’re so tuned into the flow, that your next move is seamless and creates a sense of satisfaction and peace inside.

What are you waiting for? Are you willing to tap into the power of waiting until your inner voice of truth says, “Now’s the time”?
